Cassi Jo Davis has been a practicing textile artist for the last twenty years since studying Visual Art at Curtin University where she majored in Textile, minoring in Painting. As such she combines the two mediums, using applique, paint and embroidery to create multi layered and aesthetically rich works.

She has won many awards, has been a finalist in many exhibitions such as the Blake Prize and SWAN 2020 and is represented in many private and government collections, like The City of Melville, Department of Education and Sabrina Hart Collection.

Cassi has lived in Bridgetown on and off for the same twenty years, always being drawn back to the magic of The Blackwood River and surrounding countryside.

Cassi also is joint owner in an antique business and lives in an a charming 1920 weather board homestead she is renovating with her partner. She is besotted with collecting antiques and vintage textile remnants, embroideries, antique clothing and embellishments . So much so that she primarily uses rare pieces of these textiles in her work and bespoke clothing range.

Cassi's subject matter is focused mainly on the female form, nature, horses and still life interiors however she has been drawn lately to include architectural elements into her works, having always been fascinated by historical and ruined buildings in Australia.

Her gallery and studio, Totem Bohemia, is located along with the antique shop on her small acreage property she shares with her partner just three kilometres north from central Bridgetown and is set under a beautiful ancient oak tree, nestled in an extensive beautiful garden.

Altered Couture Workshop

Join textile Artist and fashion designer Cassi-Jo Davis for the day in her c1920 house, studio and garden to learn how to upcycle your own Jacket for Winter using the techniques Cassi uses in her bespoke clothing range ‘Django’s Couture’

Using antique and vintage textiles, braids, buttons and embellishments from Cassi’s own collection you will learn about fashion design, appliqué and embroidery techniques.

At the end of the day you will be able to take home your very own piece of wearable art.

If you have one that lowers the feed dogs/can darn.

Glass of Prosecco in the garden at the end of the workshop.

Textile Art Still Life Workshop

Spend the day at a c1920 house, studio and garden emersed in learning the Textile Art techniques artist Cassi Jo Davis uses in her works.

Using vintage and antique textiles from Cassi’s own collection, you will learn drawing, painting on fabric, appliqué and embroidery techniques to produce your own Still Life, set up from the artists antique collection.

All materials supplied (welcome to bring any of your own precious pieces)
BYO sewing machine if you have one that drops the feed dogs.
Complimentary Morning/Afternoon Tea and Lunch. BYO for any special dietary needs.
Glass of Prosecco in the Garden to end the workshop.
Maximum of 5 students.
