Marijke is a multimedia textile artist.
Coming from the Netherlands, she was enraptured by Australia’s natural forms and colours.
Her main practice is felting wool, using silks and silk fabrics, to create ethereal forms.
She also likes to create sculptural forms, letting the material guide her.
Eco dyeing is also part of her practice.
She has works in Europe and Australia and has held may workshops, including working with First Nations people in their remote communities .
Over the years she has had solo exhibitions and participated in many joint exhibitions.
